Chemical Changes

According to modern chemistry the elements are assumed to consist of unchangeable atoms whose bonding to molecules results in the multiplicity of substances.

In Einstein’s time, this theory proves to be too simple. Electrochemistry, radioactivity and nuclear fission show that atoms, and therefore the elements, are changeable as well and that even new elements can be created.
